Avalon, New Jersey – Avalon is a family oriented seashore resort that features fishing, sports, playgrounds, and even summer sports camps for the kids! The Washingtonian magazine voted the Avalon beaches the best in New Jersey. It is the beaches that give Avalon its slogan: cooler by a mile. The Avalon beaches are handicapped accessible and stretch out one mile further into the Atlantic Ocean than neighboring beaches. There’s even a small boardwalk to stroll on. The beaches here are exceptional, with carefully protected high dunes covered in natural foliage that you won’t see on a lot of other New Jersey beaches. You can take a guided dune walk with a tour guide from the Wetlands Institute during the summer months. The calendar of events in Avalon is full year round, with lots of fun, free events to attend. You’ll also find a lot of opportunities for great fishing and sightseeing cruises. Avalon shares a barrier island called Seven Mile Beach with Stone Harbor.
Stone Harbor, New Jersey- Stone Harbor is a beautiful seashore resort. This amazing shore town has a quiet, upscale atmosphere. Here you’ll find small boutique stores in the quaint shopping district and several exceptional restaurants. You will definitely be impressed with the small town charm. There are no commercial amusements, and many families find evening enjoyment in walking to town for ice cream. Stone Harbor is a perfect spot for those who wish for a quiet beach as well as plenty of wildlife sanctuaries and world-class bird watching. Stone Harbor shares a barrier island called Seven Mile Beach with Avalon.
Sea Isle City, New Jersey- Sea Isle City is a hopping beach destination with lots to offer in the way of nightlife, restaurants, shopping and recreation. Even though there’s an active nightlife, there’s also a large array of activities that really offer something for everyone. Try fishing, kayaking, surfing, boating, parasailing – or just bring your suntan lotion and relax on the sand. Take a stroll along the oceanfront Promenade, which runs from 29th to 57th Street. The Promenade has shops, eateries, arcades and many places to sit and enjoy the roar of the ocean. It also has a brand new amusement park, Gillian’s Fun Land. This new park has dozens of rides geared towards young children and their families as well as fun beach food snacks including ice cream, popcorn, hot pretzels and cotton candy.
Cape May, New Jersey-Cape May is a charming beach town that hosts fine wines, outstanding restaurants, Victorian B&B’s, classic jazz festivals and year round events. This historic Victorian seaside gem is one of the oldest resorts and most beautiful spots in the country. The entire city is a National Historic District, with nearly 600 preserved Victorian buildings. There are trolley tours narrating the town’s popular estates and evening ghost tours. A lovely promenade runs along the sand, perfect for biking or jogging. Search for Cape May Diamonds on Sunset Beach or stroll the pedestrian friendly Washington Street Mall which is a hub of shopping activity.
Ocean City, New Jersey-Ocean City calls itself “America’s Favorite Family Resort” and is a family friendly premier summer destination, boasting eight miles of beautiful sandy beaches and two and a half miles of Boardwalk. The modern boardwalk has classic attractions such as amusement rides, water slides, miniature golf, and many eateries. Enjoy Philly cheese steaks, pizza, fudge, salt water taffy, and freshly made caramel-candy popcorn. The boardwalk is also home to many eclectic shops, boutiques, and the Ocean City Music Pier. The Music Pier, home to the Miss New Jersey Pageant and the famous Ocean City Pops, offers variety for the whole family, from live music and shows to silly contests. Whether you are on a family vacation or romantic getaway, Ocean City has something for everyone and has a year round, jam packed calendar of events. Besides its natural appeal and the many recreational opportunities, the town also offers two movie theatres, a golf course, and an airport. The Ocean City Community Center is a large facility and home to the Art Center, Historical Museum, Aquatic and Fitness Center, and the Ocean City Public Library. Downtown Asbury Avenue is the city’s charming main street and is lined with many upscale boutiques and family friendly restaurants.
